For the majority of souvenir shopping, the bazaars of Luxor offer the most variety - cotton goods, musical instruments, shisas, ornaments etc.
But the West Bank has its own specialised souvenir shops, which are often much cheaper than the bazaars of Luxor. Alabaster and papyrus shops are especially good value on this side of the Nile. The hand-made alabaster items are usually made locally but the highly polished and burnished items are factory made. The Valleys of the Kings and the Queens and Deir el Bahari have their own bazaars, selling similar things to those in Luxor.
